As Lance Mackey, Hans Gatt, and Jeff King make their way to Nome today, we’ll be preparing for their arrival with a live webcast. We’ll announce on twitter & facebook the broadcast times once we have a better idea of when the first musher will arrive outside Nome. However, the webcam and stream will open once a musher arrives to Safety.

Our video feed will come from several streaming webcams in Nome and after the Iditablog “pre-game show”, live audio will come from the burled arch itself as you hear history being made as the winning musher crosses the finish line of Iditarod 38.

Another great podcast this evening. We catch up on the race in the last two days and give our final thoughts as the race leaders approach Nome.

  • Why was Josh so busy this weekend? Is anything more important than Iditarod?
  • Mackey wins the Gold Coast Award in Unakleet yesterday
  • Back in time: Mackey talks race expectations & Newton @ the race start
  • Loren Liden calls and talks about her recent Iditablog post on DeeDee Jonrowe’s Unakleet Mission
  • Upcoming Nome Weather & impact on the finish
  • What’s the plan for the finish?
  • We’ll be broadcasting live tomorrow as the race wraps up. Watch the twitter & facebook feeds for the most up to the minute broadcast news.

Lance Mackey keeps widening the gap as he makes his way to Nome. Heading out of Elim at 1pm this afternoon, Mackey should be arriving into White Mountain around 7pm.

Many of you have been asking for an estimate on an arrival into Nome, I agree whole-heartedly with the Trail Committee’s guess of between 12-3pm on Tuesday afternoon. We will open the webcast stream a little bit after Mackey goes through Safety, and will broadcast once we gets closer to Nome. Twitter & Facebook will keep you in the loop and up to the minute.

We will begin broadcasting TONIGHT at 8:15 Alaska time, and will post the podcast shortly thereafter.
