I am heartsick about the news, Mackey and a snow-machine...I just knew last night SOMETHING must have happened, he and King and Seavy were so close....then all of a sudden he just seemed to fall back...sigh...has anyone heard anything??? This being the 2nd dog sled/ snow machine incident is most certainly a tragedy and it seems rigid rules and consequences must be applied...more lights and reflective clothing, reflective dog harnesses, booties, coats, etc... what happens to the snow machine operators??? Do they face consequences with law enforcement ??? I am saddened by this news, for everyone involved...just as I was during the Iditarod, and the Freking (sp.?) incident was reported. With a heavy heart we all wait for more info on this....

Josh, I have to ditto all the great things being said about the time, and energy your taking to get us, "arm-chair mushers" info and details...it was VERY frustrating not to have eyes and ears out on the remote trails, the radios go down, and NO info, etc...we are all so spoiled with "play by play" audio, visuals, etc... What an EXCITING historic All Alaska Sweepstakes!!! It was GREAT to see the video, really gives the feel of the wonderful crowd !! all cheering...gives one goose bumps!!! Being a C survivor, I'm anxious to hear about Mackeys run... and ALL the brave men and women who entered this historic race!!! Keep up the good work Josh!!!

Hi Josh,
thanks again for the great coverage--as the AAS website was marginal at best... The AAS also says Mitch's win is not verified until 24 hrs after the 3rd musher is in. I thought I read that at the Musher's mtg. they decided against that, as it was a decision based on the lack of communication long ago (although sure felt that way at times this year!ha).
Do you have info on that? Thanks!!!
